When we wanted a step change in the number of contacts we worked with, we turned to Business Networking Events.
However, all the selling courses and online marketing skills I have attained over the past twenty years did not prepare me for this new environment. I had to stop, look at the situation and start from scratch.
After a year of research, testing and talking, I came up with my process to 'Work The Room' and gradually the responses built.
Many of the people I made contact with admitted that they too found it hard to understand the techniques required for Business Networking. There are many that will tell you that it can take six months or more to start creating business from this environment. They will also tell you that this is because it takes time to be accepted and 'trusted'. I think the real truth is that it takes most people that long because they simply DO NOT know how to network effectively.
I am not saying that you can get orders within the first 10 minutes of meeting a new contact. But, to not find one deal after six months of meetings if just too long. Either there is no business for you there, or you are missing something.
So, I started to share the WorkTheRoom technique with my contacts. It is now a thriving membership site and I release a new presentation each week to members.
