One of the main advantages of running your own dedicated email servers is the ability to install your own custom integrated applications.

The MTA (Message Transfer Agent) is the component in an email application that acts as the central hub to pass the emails through the system. We have developed our own MTA applications which can interrogate emails as they pass through the email server.

The actions that we have already taken on messages within the MTA are;

• Interrogate the content of an email to give another level of Spam and virus Checking. The advantage of adding the facility at this stage is that it can also apply such rules to outgoing and well as incoming emails
• We have added custom content to messages to add sophisticated signature templates.
• We can make copies of messages for use within our message archive application.
